Replacing rubber-metal hinges should be done in pairs.
Removing
1. Remove the torsion beam (see Removal and installation of a torsion beam of a back suspension bracket).
2. Before removing the hinges with a chisel, knock out the spacers from the inner surfaces of the levers.
3. It is best to dismantle rubber-metal joints using a special Opel tool, although it is equally effective to use a long bolt with a nut, washer and a piece of pipe or a replaceable socket head of a suitable diameter. Try to remember the mounting positions of the hinges before pressing them out of the levers.
Installation
1. Lubricate new pivots with silicone grease or soapy water and press them into the arms.
2. Replace the beam (see Removal and installation of a torsion beam of a back suspension bracket).
