On vehicles not equipped with an air conditioning system, a two-speed electric fan is installed, which is controlled by two relays located in the relay box installed in the engine compartment (see "Fuse and relay mounting blocks"). On cars with an air conditioning system before 2000, in addition to the two-speed main fan, an additional two-speed fan is installed in front of the radiator. In this case, both fans, as well as the air conditioning system, are controlled by a special electronic unit located on the left behind the front bumper (under the windshield washer reservoir). The health of the unit can be judged by the control dump (see "Controls and instruments"), The faulty unit must be replaced (see "Electronic control unit for cooling and air conditioning system - replacement").
On vehicles with an air conditioning system after 2000, one three-speed fan is installed, which is controlled by a relay installed in a separate unit to the left of the battery.
To complete the work you will need a multimeter, a wire with a cross-section of about 2.5 mm², a 30 A fuse, and a soldering iron.
