The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the cooling system (see "Cooling system - technical condition check").

On vehicles not equipped with an air conditioning system, a two-speed electric fan is installed, which is controlled by two relays located in the relay box installed in the engine compartment (see "Fuse and relay mounting blocks"). On cars with an air conditioning system before 2000, in addition to the two-speed main fan, an additional two-speed fan is installed in front of the radiator. In this case, both fans, as well as the air conditioning system, are controlled by a special electronic unit located on the left behind the front bumper (under the windshield washer reservoir). The health of the unit can be judged by the control dump (see "Controls and instruments"), The faulty unit must be replaced (see "Electronic control unit for cooling and air conditioning system - replacement").
