Examination
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Check the health of the electronic unit (see above).
3. Disconnect the electric fan wiring harness block.
4. For the convenience of further work, it is better to remove the electric fan. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the two fastening nuts and, tilting the electric fan slightly forward, remove it upwards.
5. We pry with a thin slotted screwdriver and remove the protective cover of the terminals of the additional resistor (shown on the removed electric fan).
6. Connect the brown wire of the motor wiring harness to «weight», and red with the positive terminal of the battery. A 30 A fuse must be inserted into the piece of wire connecting the red wire to the positive terminal of the battery (see «Checking electrical consumers»). A good electric fan will start to work, if it is faulty, the electric fan should be replaced (see below). If the fuse blows, the motor has a short circuit and must also be replaced (see below).
7. If the electric fan is working, check the additional resistor (see «Electric fans of the cooling system - checking and replacing the additional resistor»).
8. If the additional resistor is working, then there is a malfunction in the electrical wiring (see «Checking and repairing electrical circuits»).
Replacement
1. Solder the wires of the electric fan from the terminals of the additional resistor.
2. Remove the electric fan wiring harness from the holders on the casing.
3. Using the TORX T15 key, unscrew the three mounting screws and remove the motor assembly with the impeller.
4. Install the parts in reverse order.
