Warning! Dilute antifreeze with distilled water beforehand (before filling into the cooling system). This is the only way to ensure that the indicated ratios of antifreeze and distilled water are exactly observed.
Change the coolant when the engine temperature does not exceed +40°C to avoid burns.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. We prepare a container for draining the coolant with a volume of at least eight liters. If the liquid is drained not for replacement, then the container must be clean.
3. With a slotted screwdriver, unscrew the drain valve of the radiator of the cooling system by several turns. At the same time, from the drain fitting of the radiator (indicated by an arrow) coolant will drain.
Recommendation. Before unscrewing the drain valve, put a rubber hose with a diameter of about 10 mm on the drain fitting and lower it into a container prepared for draining the coolant. In this way, contamination and loss of coolant can be avoided (if it is drained not for replacement).
4. We wrap the drain valve of the radiator of the cooling system.
5. Prepare the coolant (see above) and slowly, pour it into the expansion tank of the cooling system (see «Checking the levels of technical fluids»).
6. We wrap the cap of the expansion tank and start the engine. Check for coolant leaks (see «Cooling system - checking the technical condition»).
7. We stop the engine and after it cools down we check the coolant level, if necessary, bring it to normal (see «Checking the levels of technical fluids»).
