Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the front subframe (see «Front suspension subframe - removal and installation»).
3. We install a container under the pump to collect the flowing working fluid.
4. With a syringe or a rubber pear, we select the working fluid from the reservoir of the power steering pump.
5. Remove the return hose clamp (when installing, replace it with a new one).
6. Disconnect the return pipeline from the pump reservoir.
7. Using an 18 mm wrench, unscrew the fitting of the pressure pipe.
8. Disconnect the pressure pipeline and take it to the side.
Warning! The connection of the pressure hose tube to the power steering pump is sealed with a rubber ring, which must be replaced each time the connection is disassembled.
9. Disconnect the clamps of the wiring harness from the subframe and the steering gear housing...
...from the strut on the side support of the subframe...
...from the pump mounting bracket to the subframe.
10. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the three nuts securing the pump to the bracket.
11. Remove the pump assembly with the tank and wiring harness. We check the mounting support bushings, replace worn and damaged bushings.
Comment. The power steering pump with electric drive is assembled with a wiring harness and a reservoir for working fluid and is not subject to further disassembly.
Installation
Install the parts in reverse order. Tighten the hydraulic booster pump mounting nuts to the prescribed torques (see «Reference data»). After assembly, we pump the power steering system (see «Power Steering System - Bleeding»).
