Power Steering Pump — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

To perform the work, you will need a container for the power steering fluid.

Removal



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the front subframe (see "Front Suspension Subframe - Removal and Installation").

3. Place a container under the pump to collect the leaking working fluid.

4. Using a syringe or rubber bulb, remove the working fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

5. Remove the return line hose clamp (when installing, we replace it with a new one).

6. Disconnect the return line from the pump tank.

7. Using an 18 mm wrench, unscrew the pressure pipe fitting.

8. Disconnect the pressure pipeline and move it to the side.

Warning! The connection of the pressure hose tube to the power steering pump is sealed with a rubber ring, which must be replaced each time the connection is disassembled.

9. Disconnect the clamps securing the wiring harness from the subframe and steering gear housing...

10. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the three nuts securing the pump to the bracket.

11. Remove the pump assembly with the tank and wiring harness. Check the mounting support bushings, replace worn and damaged bushings.

Note: The electric power steering pump is assembled with a wiring harness and a reservoir for the working fluid and cannot be further disassembled.




Installation



We install the parts in the reverse order. We tighten the nuts of the power steering pump to the prescribed torques (see "Reference data"). After assembly, bleed the power steering system (see "Power Steering System - Bleeding").
