Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. We set the wheels to the position of rectilinear movement.
3. Remove the front subframe (see «Front suspension subframe - removal and installation»).
4. Remove the clamps for fastening the wiring harness to the subframe and steering rack (see «Power steering pump - replacement»).
5. Using an 18 mm wrench, we unscrew the two pipe fittings.
6. Disconnect the pipelines from the steering rack.
7. We remove the bracket for attaching pipelines to the steering rack.
8. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the pump bracket to the subframe.
9. Using the same wrench, unscrew the nut that secures the pump bracket to the steering gear housing.
10. Remove the pump assembly with the bracket and pipelines.
11. Using an 18 mm wrench, unscrew the nut of the bolt of the left fastening of the steering gear to the subframe. If necessary, hold the bolt from turning from below with a wrench of the same size.
12. Using an 18 mm wrench, unscrew the nut of the bolt of the right fastening of the steering gear to the subframe. If necessary, hold the bolt from turning from below with a wrench of the same size.
13. Remove the steering rack from the subframe.
14. If necessary, turn off and remove the steering rods (see «Tie rod - replacement»).
Installation
Install the parts in reverse order. The steering rack must be in a straight ahead position. Tighten the steering gear mounting nuts to the prescribed torques (see «Reference data»). After assembly, we pump the power steering system (see «Power Steering System - Bleeding»).
