Removing the trim is necessary to access the parts and components located on the steering column.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
Note: The work is shown on the Astra model. On the Zafira model it is done similarly.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the left and use a thin slotted screwdriver to remove the cap of the left trim mounting screw.

3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the mounting screw.

4. Similarly, remove the plug and unscrew the right screw securing the trim.
5. Lift the upper part of the steering column trim and remove it.

6. Lower the steering column adjustment lever.

7. Using a TORX T20 key, unscrew the screw securing the steering column adjustment lever handle and remove the handle.

8. Raise the steering column adjustment lever.
9. Using a thin slotted screwdriver, pry up and remove the ignition switch cover.

10. Using a TORX T20 key, unscrew the lower screw securing the steering column trim.

11. Using the same key, unscrew the two upper screws securing the steering column trim.

12. Press on the spring-loaded rear cover of the steering column and remove the lower part of the trim.

Installation
We install the steering column trim in reverse order.
