Unlocking and closing doors and trunk lid (Opel Vectra C)

General information and precautions

Attention! When leaving the car, do not forget to remove the key from the ignition, set the parking brake, close all windows and lock the doors! It is reasonable to lock the doors while driving to prevent them from being accidentally opened, as well as to prevent intruders from entering the car (for example, at traffic light stops). When transporting children in the back seat, turn on the additional door lock from the passenger compartment!

Attention! To avoid the penetration of engine exhaust gases into the vehicle interior, do not under any circumstances transport cargo whose dimensions do not allow the tailgate/trunk lid to be completely closed!

All models covered in this manual are equipped as standard with a single remote control lock that allows you to simultaneously lock or unlock all vehicle doors (see Section 8).

Unlocking and locking doors from the outside using a key

On all models covered by this manual, the driver's door and tailgate/trunk lid locks are equipped with cylinders that allow the corresponding door/trunk lid to be unlocked and locked from the outside using a key.



Turning the key counterclockwise in the driver's door lock cylinder unlocks only that door. If, without removing the key from the lock cylinder, you turn it again in the same direction, all other doors (including the tailgate/trunk lid, if its lock has not been previously activated (see below)) and the fuel filler flap will automatically unlock.

To lock the doors, boot lid and fuel filler flap, turn the key clockwise in the driver's door lock cylinder. If you turn it clockwise again without removing the key from the lock cylinder, the anti-theft alarm/double locking system will be activated (see Section 8). Detailed information on unlocking/locking the tailgate/trunk lid is provided below.

Note: When the tailgate/trunk lid is unlocked with the key, the other doors are not unlocked.

Unlocking and locking doors from the inside

Unlocking/locking of doors from the inside is carried out using the main switch of the single lock (see Section 8) - the driver's door must be tightly closed. In case of failure of the single lock system, unlocking/locking of the side doors can be done from the inside using push-button locks built into the upper panels of the door trims. The locks are blocked by pressing the button - to remove the blocking, pull the button out of the receiving niche.

Note: If the double locking system has been previously activated (see Section 8), unlocking the doors from the inside is not possible.

Unlocking and locking doors using the master switch of the single lock

The main switch button of the single lock is located on the switch panel (see illustration 3.1), built into the driver's armrest (and with the appropriate equipment and front passenger) doors.

Additional locking of rear door locks

Attention! Use the rear door lock in all cases when there are children in the rear seats! Inform passengers accordingly!

A special additional lock serves to prevent the possibility of accidental opening of the rear doors from the passenger compartment, which is especially important when there are young children in the car. The lock is activated by turning a special cylinder mounted in the rear end wall of the door assembly (the cylinder groove must be positioned horizontally), - use a key or any other suitable tool (see illustration 3.2). To remove the lock, move the cylinder to its previous position - the groove should be located vertically.

Unlocking and locking the tailgate/trunk lid

When the key is removed, the tailgate/trunk lid lock cylinder can be in one of two positions:

• The cylinder groove is located horizontally;
• The cylinder groove is located vertically.

In the first position of the cylinder, the rear door/trunk lid lock is unlocked/locked using the key or one of the standard methods of activating the single lock (see Section 8), and unlocking is also possible by pressing a button on the remote control (see illustration 3.3) or buttons on the switch panel (see illustration 3.4), built into the driver's armrest (and with the appropriate equipment and passenger) doors. If the tailgate/trunk lid is not opened within 30 seconds after unlocking, the lock will automatically lock.







With the anti-theft system activated (see Section 8) the tailgate/trunk lid can be unlocked separately from the other doors by pressing a button on the remote control or with the key. In this case, the control of the interior volume of the passenger compartment and the tilt of the car will be automatically disabled, and will be reactivated approximately 10 seconds after the tailgate/trunk lid is closed.

To open the tailgate/trunk lid, simply press the latch. In the upper position, the door/lid is held in place by special gas-filled struts.

Attention! Mounting additional equipment on the tailgate increases its weight - the door may not stay open!

To close the trunk there is a handle on the inside of the tailgate/trunk lid (see illustration 3.5). The lock snaps into place automatically when the door/lid is slammed shut. If unlocking was done by pressing the button , the tailgate/trunk lid lock will be automatically locked approximately 30 seconds after the door/trunk lid is closed. When moving off and when the vehicle speed reaches 4 km/h, the lock will also be locked automatically. When the lock cylinder is set to the second position, the lock is locked and can only be unlocked with the key. To unlock the tailgate/trunk lid, turn the key in the lock clockwise until it stops.

Note: When the key is turned to the extreme right position, it is not possible to remove it from the lock cylinder.

The lock is locked after the door/lid is closed by turning the key counterclockwise to one of the positions described above.
