Exhaust gas system (Opel Vectra B)

            0

The exhaust system consists of an exhaust pipe, an additional muffler and a main muffler. In cars with an exhaust cleaning system, a catalytic converter is installed instead of an additional muffler. All elements of the system have detachable connections and can be replaced individually. The exhaust pipe has an additional mount to the car body.

Removal



1. Place the vehicle over the inspection pit.

2. Loosen and remove the bolts and springs securing the front exhaust pipe front flange to the manifold.

3. Remove the bolts securing the exhaust pipe to the intermediate pipe and remove the exhaust pipe from under the vehicle.

4. Unscrew the mounting bolts (indicated by arrows) front flange of the exhaust inlet pipe to the manifold.

5. Unscrew the fastening of the exhaust inlet pipe to the body bracket. Unscrew the bolts fastening the exhaust inlet pipe to the intermediate pipe and remove the exhaust inlet pipe from under the car.

6. Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector located on the sensor wires. Release the sensor wiring from the mounting brackets so that the sensor can be removed from the exhaust pipe.

7. Unscrew the bolts securing the exhaust inlet pipe to the manifold.

8. Unscrew the nut securing the exhaust inlet pipe to the body bracket.

9. Unscrew the bolts securing the exhaust inlet pipe to the intermediate pipe and remove the exhaust inlet pipe from under the vehicle.

Catalyst

10. Unscrew and remove the bolts and springs securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold and the bolts securing the catalytic converter to the intermediate pipe. Remove the catalytic converter from underneath the vehicle.

11. Remove the bolts securing the intermediate pipe to the exhaust manifold and loosen the clamp securing the intermediate pipe to the exhaust manifold.

12. Remove the intermediate pipe from the rubber mounts and remove it from under the vehicle.

13. Unscrew and remove the bolts and springs (indicated by arrows), securing the intermediate pipe to the exhaust pipe.

14. Unscrew the mounting bolts (indicated by arrows) intermediate pipe to the front pipe.

15. Release the intermediate pipe from the rubber hangers and remove it from under the car.

16. Loosen and remove the bolts and springs or loosen the clamp that secures the exhaust pipe to the intermediate pipe.

17. Free the exhaust pipe from the rubber hangers and remove it from under the car.
