Precautions
When performing any work on a vehicle equipped with an airbag, the following precautions must be observed when moving and storing the airbag:
- do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running;
- when performing any work on the security system or performing electric welding on the car, deactivate the security system;
- if the alarm lamp of the security system is on, you must immediately contact the service station;
- the airbag must be transported separately, bag up;
- during transportation, do not place your hands on the airbag;
- do not throw the airbag;
- do not disassemble the airbag;
- avoid contact with solvents or cleaning agents on the airbag;
- do not expose the airbag to temperatures above 90°C;
- do not allow the airbag to come into contact with an open flame;
- Do not install a defective or damaged airbag on a vehicle.
Security deactivation
When working on safety components, deactivate the air bag as follows:
- turn off the ignition;
- remove the ignition key from the ignition lock;
- turn off all electrical equipment;
- remove the negative cable from the battery;
- isolate the negative terminal of the battery;
- Wait at least 1 minute before carrying out any further work to allow the safety capacitor to discharge.
