Elements of the airbag (Opel Vectra B)

Driver side airbag



The airbag is an integral part of the central part of the steering wheel.

1. Deactivate the airbag system.

2. Set the front wheels to move straight ahead.

3. Remove the two screws located at the back of the steering wheel and lift the airbag off the steering wheel.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the airbag.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Airbag contact



1. Remove the driver's airbag.

2. Remove the steering wheel.

3. Remove the steering column covers.

4. Using a small screwdriver, lift the stop, then disconnect the wire contact.

6. Remove the contact block from the top of the steering column. Check that the contact block halves remain in the center position and that the arrows are positioned in the base.

7. Before installing the contact block, check that it is in the center position. Press the lock on the top of the block and turn the inner part of the block counterclockwise until there is a clear resistance. Now turn the inner part of the contact block 1.5 turns clockwise and align the arrows of the center part and the block body.

8. If installing a new contact block, first remove the shipping bracket.

9. Install the contact block onto the steering column and press it until it is secured with the mounting brackets.



10. Connect the wiring while pressing the stop.

11. Install the steering column covers.

12. Install the steering wheel.

13. Install the airbag.

Electronic control device



1. Deactivate the airbag system.

2. Remove the center console.

2. Remove the center console.


3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the control unit, then unscrew the nuts and remove the unit from the inside of the vehicle.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Side airbag sensor



1. Deactivate the airbag system.

2. Remove the front door trim.

3. Remove the protective film from the front door to access the sensor.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the bolts and remove the sensor.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
