Checking the tire profile (Opel Vectra A)

Tires on balanced wheels, when the proper pressure is maintained, the wheels are installed correctly, and the shock absorbers operate normally, wear approximately evenly across the entire working surface. It is impossible to give an exact estimate of the service life of tires, since it depends on various variable factors:

• quality of road surface;
• tire pressure;
• driving style;
• weather conditions.

A sporty driving style is the main contributor to rapid tire wear (sharp acceleration and braking).

Attention! The tires can be used until the profile depth reaches 1.6 mm. However, for safety reasons, it is recommended to replace the tires already at a profile depth of 2 mm.

As the profile depth approaches the wear limit (the profile depth in many places is 1.6 mm) the tire must be replaced immediately.

Attention! M+S tires (with winter profile) when used on snow, they have sufficient grip on the road with a profile depth of at least 4 mm.

Warning! Check the tire for cuts and use a screwdriver to determine their depth. If the cuts reach the cord, it will corrode. Under certain circumstances, this may cause the working surface to separate from the carcass and the tire to burst. Therefore, if deep cuts are detected, the tire must be replaced.
