Removing
1. Remove the oil pan and oil pickup tube.
2. Set the N1 piston to TDC, aligning the timing mark of the pulley with the pointer on the cover.
3. Remove the bolts and remove the crankshaft balancer located at the base of the cylinder block. Remove the separation plate.
Installation
1. If you have done any work on the crankshaft or are installing a new balancer block, you will need to adjust the gear gap.
2. If you are installing an old block, rotate the shafts so that the cuts at their ends are pointing down and in line.
3. Install the separation plate and install the block.
4. Tighten the bolts.
5. Install the oil pickup tube and oil pan.
Adjustment
The gear clearance is controlled by the thickness of the dividing plate installed between the cylinder block and the balancing block.

If you are installing a new unit, use the thickest N85 plate.
1. Set the N1 piston to TDC and prepare the KM-949 tool. Install the measuring arm on the right shaft. The lever must be in a horizontal position. Screw both wheels into shafts and tighten firmly. Position the gauge so that its pin fits into the groove on the gauge arm.
2. Turn the left shaft fully clockwise and set the gauge to zero. Turn the shaft all the way counterclockwise and record the meter reading.
3. Remove gauge, rotate crankshaft 45° (shafts rotate 90°). Loosen the wheel of the right shaft and set the measuring arm to the horizontal position. Re-measure.
4. Repeat the above procedure two more times so that you have four measurement results.
5. All results obtained should be within 0.02–0.06 mm. If the result of at least one of the measurements is outside the specified interval, it is necessary to carry out an adjustment.
6. The value of the obtained measurements is directly proportional to the thickness of the installed plate.
