Cooling pump — removal and installation (Opel Omega B)

The diesel engine pump is driven by a V-belt.

The radiator fan is screwed onto the water pump shaft at the front.

Removal



1. Drain the coolant.

2. Unscrew the fan with the viscous coupling (left hand thread).

3. Remove the V-belt.

3. Remove the V-belt.


4. Loosen the bolts (1) securing the V-belt pulley. While doing this, press the V-belt and hold it to prevent the pulley from turning.

5. Remove the pulley from the hub.

6. Unscrew the 4 bolts (1) securing the cooling pump.

6. Unscrew the 4 bolts (1) securing the cooling pump.


7. Screw 2 bolts (1) with M6 thread into the threaded holes and thereby evenly push the water pump out of the engine. In doing so, pay attention to the fact that the pump is not skewed.



Installation



1. Remove the bolts, replace the ring for the cooling pump and manually lubricate with silicone oil, for example OPEL 19 70 206 (90 167 353).

2. Install the pump with a new gasket and tighten evenly with a torque of 10 Nm.

3. Screw the belt pulley with 4 bolts and tighten them with a force of 10 Nm.

4. Install and tension the V-belt.

5. Install the viscous coupling.

6. Fill with coolant and bleed the system.

7. Warm up the engine and check the hose connection and the cooling pump for leaks.
