1. The steering gear can be pre-adjusted on the vehicle on site. First, jack up the front of the car and secure it on axle stands.
2. Unscrew the nut securing the steering pendulum to the steering gear base, then use a suitable extractor to separate the lever from the grooves on the shaft.
3. Use the lever to remove the horn key from the center of the steering wheel.
4. Center the steering wheel by turning it from lock to lock and dividing the number of turns by two. Turn the steering wheel approximately one turn counterclockwise from the center.
5. Using a torque wrench, measure the torque on the steering wheel nut and record the readings. Then measure the moment at the center position of the steering wheel. The second reading should be 50-80 Ncm greater than the first and should be 110-150 Ncm.
6. If necessary, adjust the shaft alignment by screwing on the steering gear, tightening the jam nut and rechecking the installation.
7. Install the pendulum and tighten the nut to the specified torque, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
