Brake system specifications (Opel Omega A)

System type - Front and rear disc brakes, dual master cylinder with separate front and rear hydraulic circuits, vacuum servo and pressure limiter in the rear circuit. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) on some models. Handbrake, controlled by a cable on the inner shoes of the rear brakes.

Front brakes



Disc diameter - 258 mm

Minimum thickness:
  • Without holes - 10.7 mm
  • With hole - 22.0 mm

Thickness difference (maximum) - 0.007 mm

Output (maximum) - 0.1mm

Minimum brake pad thickness (including shield)... 7.0 mm

Rear brakes



Disc diameter - 270 mm

Minimum thickness - 8.0 mm

Thickness difference (maximum) - 0.007 mm

Output (maximum) - 0.1mm
  • Minimum brake pad thickness (including shield) — 7.0 mm
  • Minimum thickness of handbrake shoes (only gasket) — 1.0 mm

Brake Fluid Type/Specification - Hydraulic Fluid FMVSS 571 or 116, DOT 3 or 4, or SAE J1703 (Duckhams Universal Brake and Clutch Fluid)

The gap between the rear wheel speed sensor and the drive is 0.5 and 1.5 mm

Tightening torques, Nm

Front Master Cylinder Mount - 20

Vacuum booster - 20

Rear caliper - 65

Front Caliper Mounting Bolts (replace each time using thread locking fluid)*:
  • Stage 1 - 95
  • Stage 2 - Tighten 30-45°

Front caliper frame - 95

Caliper bolt - 40

ABS Modulator - 3

Front ABS Modulator Frame - 10

Handbrake lever - 20

Vacuum Booster Holder - 18



Master cylinder to vacuum booster - 22

Brake Pipe Connecting Nuts/Bolts - 11
