Headlight replacement (Opel Astra J)

The headlight unit is removed for replacement in case of damage, malfunction of the electric light corrector, or to gain access to other components.

You will need: 7 mm socket head, flat blade screwdriver.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the front bumper (see Removal and installation the front bumper).

Note: It is necessary to remove the front bumper because it completely covers the lower bolt that secures the headlight to the body.

3. Use a screwdriver to pry up the wiring harness connector retainer…

4. …pull out the latch…



5. …and disconnect the connector from the headlight.





6. Unscrew the upper bolts securing the headlight to the wing…



7. …and to the radiator frame.



8. Unscrew the lower bolts securing the headlight to the wing…



9. …and to the radiator frame.





10. Break the seal..



11. …and remove the headlight from the car.



12. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal. Check that the headlights are adjusted correctly and adjust them if necessary (see Checking and adjusting headlights).
