Replacing the tailgate stops (Opel Astra J)

You will need a flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Open the tailgate and lock it in the open position (for example, a wooden block of suitable length) or ask an assistant to support the door.



2. Using a screwdriver, remove the retainer..



3. …and disconnect the upper hinge of the stop from the support on the door bracket.



4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lower hinge retainer of the stop, disconnect the hinge from the support on the body and remove the stop.



5. Remove the second stop in the same way.

Warning! Do not attempt to disassemble the removed stop, as it contains compressed gas under high pressure. A rod suddenly ejected from the stop may cause serious injury.

6. Install the tailgate stops in the reverse order of removal.
