Removal and installation the tailgate (Opel Astra J)

You will need: 13 mm socket head, flat blade screwdriver.

1. Open the tailgate and lock it in the open position (for example, a wooden block of suitable length) or ask an assistant to support the door.



2. Disconnect the left and right stop hinges from the supports on the tailgate (see Replacing the tailgate stops).



3. Remove the side trims of the tailgate (see Removal and installation the rear door trim).



4. Use a screwdriver to press the retainer of the rear door wiring harness connector…





5. …and disconnect the block.



6. Disconnect the wire connectors from the right glass heating element…



7. …and on the left.



8. Remove the wiring harness sealing boot from the hole in the inner door panel…





9. …cover holder and wiring harness.

Note: If you are removing the door for purposes other than replacement, we recommend marking the position of the hinges relative to the tailgate (for example, trace them along the outline with a felt-tip pen).

10. Remove the four bolts securing the hinges to the tailgate (two on the left and right loop) and remove the door.

11. Install the tailgate in the reverse order of removal.
