Check, removal and installation
On models equipped with a coolant level sensor, it is located in the expansion tank.
To test the sensor on a cold engine, carefully loosen the expansion tank cap to relieve pressure in the cooling system.
Completely unscrew the cover screws and carefully remove it together with the sensor.
Hold the cap/sensor assembly upright in the canister. trying not to pull the wires, then the assistant should turn on the ignition (without starting the engine).
Your assistant should check on the dashboard that the coolant level indicator is on ("coolant level").
Turn the ignition off and reinstall the cover/sensor assembly, then turn the ignition back on.
If the sensor is not working as expected, check the wiring for signs of damage. If the sensor is changed, the entire cap/sensor assembly is replaced.
The engine must be cool before removing the expansion tank.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Disconnect the wiring from the terminals on the top of the expansion tank cap.
After loosening the tightening to relieve pressure in the cooling system, unscrew the expansion tank cap screws, then remove the cap/sensor assembly.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
