Removing
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the engine mudguard.
1.6L petrol engine
2. Unscrew the two nuts and remove the wires from the contacts of the traction relay.
3. Unscrew the nut and remove the ground bar from the starter top bolt.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the starter from under the car.
1.8 and 2.0 L petrol engines
5. Unscrew the bolts and remove the intake manifold support bracket.
6. Unscrew two nuts and remove wires from contacts of the traction relay.
7. Unscrew bolts and take a starter from the bottom part of a motor compartment.
Diesel engine 1.7L
8. Unscrew two nuts and remove wires from contacts of the traction relay.
9. Unscrew bolts and take a starter from the bottom part of a motor compartment.
Diesel engine 2.0L
10. To improve access to the starter, remove the front exhaust pipe.
11. Unscrew bolts and remove the heat-resistant screen of a starter.
12. Unscrew the bolts and remove the intake manifold support bracket.
13. Unscrew two nuts and disconnect wires from contacts of the traction relay.
14. Remove the nuts and bolts and remove the starter rear support bracket.
15. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the starter from the bottom of the engine compartment.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
