- connect one end of the large red wire to the positive terminal of the discharged battery;
- connect the other end of the red wire to the positive terminal of the external battery;
- connect one end of the large black wire to the negative terminal of the external battery;
- connect the other end of the black wire to the power unit or to a body element of the car being started away from the battery;
- make sure the wires do not come into contact with the fan, drive belts, or other rotating parts of the engine;
- start the engine using an external source (while the engine of the source car must be idling).
After starting the car engine with a discharged battery, disconnect the wires in reverse order.
1. The battery is located on the left front side of the engine compartment. To access the battery terminals, remove the protective cover.
2. Check the tightness of the battery clamps (A) and integrity of wire insulation (IN).
3. If the battery terminals show corrosion in the form of a white loose coating, disconnect the terminals from the battery and clean them with a small wire brush.
4. Using a small wire brush, clean the terminals on the wires connected to the battery.
