Removing
1. Raise the front of the car and place on stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.
2. Lock the tie rod and loosen the tie rod locknut a quarter of a turn. Do not move the locknut from this position as it will serve as a guide when installing a new tie rod end.
3. Unscrew the nut securing the ball joint of the tie rod end.
4. Using a puller, remove the tie rod end ball joint from the steering knuckle.
5. Unscrew the tie rod end from the tie rod by counting the exact number of turns of the tie rod end. The right tie rod end is marked R and has a right hand thread, while the left tie rod end is marked L and has a left hand thread.
Installation
1. Screw the tie rod end into the tie rod the same number of turns as when removing. In this case, the locknut of the tie rod end should be set a quarter of a turn from the tie rod.
2. Install the tie rod end ball joint into the steering knuckle and secure with the nut.
3. Tighten the tie rod end lock nut.
4. Install the wheel and lower the car.
5. Check the front wheel alignment.
