General description of the body (Opel Vectra A)

The body and floor panel are made of stamped steel and their shape is an integral part of the car's structure, without the need for a separate chassis.

Various areas of the body are reinforced, including the suspension, steering, engine mount points and load distribution.

All new cars are given extensive corrosion protection. Various anti-corrosion techniques are used, including galvanizing and PVC coating of leaky seals. Protective wax is injected into box sections and other hollow recesses.

Plastic is used extensively for peripheral components, such as the grille, bumpers and wheel covers, and for most interior trim

All models can be specially equipped with a high standard interior finish.

Apart from the rear quarter windows, all installed glass is attached using a special adhesive. Any work in this area should be left to an Opel dealer or glass replacement specialist.
