Vehicles with a 2.5L diesel engine
The intake manifold must be removed to provide access to repaired components, for example, when working on the power system.
Removing
1. Remove protective covers over the engine and the charge air pipeline.
2. Remove the intake manifold 2 from the cylinder head (see illustration).
The procedure for removing the manifold is as follows:
3. Disconnect the boost air temperature sensor wire 3 (see illustration 6.2)
4. Disconnect the low pressure hose from the membrane valve 5 of the exhaust gas recirculation system and from the intake manifold (see illustration 6.2).
5. Unscrew the bolts securing the intake manifold to the cylinder head and to the support bracket, and then remove it together with the gaskets 1 (see illustration 6.2). Exhaust gas recirculation valve 5 and its gasket 4 do not need to be removed (see illustration 6.2).
Installation
6. Install the intake manifold in place and secure it with bolts with a force of 25 Nm. Pre-fix all gaskets with new ones. Bolt the oil pump bracket and the exhaust gas recirculation pipe to the intake manifold with a tightening torque of 25 Nm.
7. Establish protective covers over the engine and the charge air pipeline.
