Inspection



1. Remove the rear brake discs.

2. Clean the brake mechanism from dust and measure the thickness of the friction material of the pads. If any of the pads need replacing, replace the brake pads on both wheels. Check the condition of the brake drum.

Removal



1. Disconnect the spring and cable from the handbrake lever.

2. Remove the anti-noise springs and mounting screws. On later models, press down on the spring caps, turn them 90° and remove them together with the springs.



3. Mark the brake shoes and remove them, disconnecting the upper and lower return springs.

Installation



Warning: Lubricate the back surface of the pads with high temperature grease before installation.

1. Install the lever onto the brake shield.

11. Tighten the adjusting nut to adjust the handbrake mechanism.
