Removing
1. Check the lining thickness through the hole in the brake caliper.
2. If the pads need to be replaced, remove the wear sensor.
3. Remove the mounting clip and remove the brake hose from the mounting bracket.
Models up to 1998 with a 4-cylinder engine
4. Remove the large spring clip.
5. Remove caps.
6. Loosen and remove the caliper pin bolts.
7. Remove the support. Remove the outer brake lining from the caliper mounting bracket.
8. Remove the inner brake lining from the caliper piston.
Models with a 4-cylinder engine since 1998 and all models with a 6-cylinder engine
9. Loosen and remove the lower caliper bolt.
10. Raise the caliper.
11. Remove the inner and outer brake pads.
Inspection
1. Measure the thickness of the brake pads. If any of the brake linings require replacement, all four brake linings on both wheels must be replaced.
2. Lower the piston deep into the caliper with a clamp.
3. Lubricate the back of the pads with high temperature grease.
4. Lubricate the adjacent areas on the caliper mounting bracket with high temperature grease.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. On models with a 4-cylinder engine manufactured before 1998, install the mounting spring so that its ends fall into the holes on the caliper.
