Inspection/replacement of the timing belt
2. Unfasten and remove the drive timing belt covers, check the condition of the belt.
3. Check the tension of the toothed drive belt, adjust if necessary, as described in Chapter 13.
4. Install covers.
Changing engine oil and oil filter
5. Place the car over a viewing hole, or apply a handbrake, jack up the front, secure it on axle stands.
6. Place the container below the sump, unscrew the drain plug (photo).
7. While the oil is draining, unscrew the oil filter using the repair wrench (photo).
8. Clean the drain plug and pan, install the plug, tighten it with the tightening torque specified specification.
9. Clean the contact surface of the filter on the oil pump.
10. Lubricate the filter rubber gasket with oil. Screw on the oil filter, tighten it by hand.
11. Remove the filler cap and fill the engine with oil. Install the cover.
12. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
13. With the vehicle on a level surface, remove the dipstick for measuring the oil level, wipe it off, then insert and remove again. The oil level must be up to the maximum mark.
14. If necessary, add a level. Remember that there is about 1.0 liter between the minimum and maximum level marks (photo).
