Design features and operating principle (Opel Kadett E)

The TNM125 hydromechanical gearbox is designed specifically for front-wheel drive vehicles with a transverse engine layout. It includes a torque converter, three planetary gears (input, downshift and output), three multi-disc clutches, a band brake and a freewheel clutch. The torque converter is installed in the upper part of the automatic transmission. Its rotation is transmitted to the gearbox by a chain drive.
