The evaporative emission system adsorber is removed for inspection or replacement if there is a persistent smell of gasoline caused by a leak. In addition, a violation of the tightness of the adsorber can cause unstable operation of the engine at idle until it stops.
1. Remove the fuel tank (see Replacing the fuel tank and its filler pipe).
2. Press the latch on the steam pipe tip..
3.... and disconnect the steam line from the adsorber fitting. Disconnect the second steam line in the same way.
4. Press the latch..
5.... and remove the canister by sliding it up from the fuel tank bracket.
6. Install the adsorber in the reverse order of removal.
