Removal and installation the fuel vapor recovery system canister (Opel Astra J)

The fuel vapor recovery system canister is removed for inspection or replacement if a persistent gasoline smell appears due to its leakage. In addition, a leaky canister can cause unstable engine operation at idle speed up to its shutdown.

1. Remove the fuel tank (see Replacing the fuel tank and its filler pipe).



2. Press the locking button on the steam hose tip…



3. …and disconnect the steam line from the adsorber fitting. Disconnect the second steam line in the same way.



4. Press the latch..

5. …and remove the canister by sliding it up from the fuel tank bracket.



6. Install the canister in the reverse order of removal.
