Pic. 1.Rim parameters: A - rim profile width (in inches); B is the shape of the side flange of the rim; C - rim diameter (in inches); D - the number of holes for the wheel bolts; E - tire bead profile; F - Departure ET (in mm); G is the point at which the maximum runout of the disk is measured; H is the center of the disc
On fig. 1 shows the parameters of rims, which are given in their marking.
For example, wheel marking 7Jх17 H2 IS 42 is decrypted as follows:
- 7 – rim profile width in inches;
- J - the shape of the side flange of the rim (J-shaped);
- 17 – rim diameter in inches;
- H2 – deep rim with ring belts on landing shelves (humps on both landing shelves of the rim);
- IS 42 - disc overhang equal to 42 mm.
Note. GM uses its own disc offset designation - «IS», the generally accepted departure designation - «ET».
On an Opel Astra J car with 215/50 R17 tires, 7Jx17 wheels with an IS wheel offset are installed (ET), equal to 42 mm (the designation is applied on the front side of the steel wheel or on the inside of the light alloy).
