The order of setting the piston of the 1st cylinder at TDC of the compression stroke (Opel Astra G)

1. Disconnect the battery from ground and remove the spark plugs (see Chapter 1).

2. Remove the upper camshaft belt cover.

3. Turn the crankshaft clockwise by the pulley bolt head (if you look from the right side of the car) until the mark on the camshaft sprocket is aligned with the notch on the rear belt cover, while the notch on the crankshaft pulley crown should be aligned with the indicator on the lower belt cover (see photo).
