Removal and installation the oil pressure sensor (Opel Astra G)

Removal

Petrol models and diesel models 1.7L SOHC

The sensor is screwed into the rear of the oil pump housing.

1. If equipped, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the crankcase guard.

2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the sensor.

3. Unscrew the sensor - be prepared to collect any spilled fuel. If the sensor is removed for a long time, plug the hole for its installation with a suitable plug.

Diesel models 1.7L DOHC

1. The sensor is screwed into the left side of the cylinder block, below and slightly behind the thermostat housing - to ensure adequate access, remove the battery with the installation tray (see Checking the proper functioning of the preheating system).

2. Disconnect the wiring and unscrew the sensor - be prepared to collect any spilled fuel. If the sensor is removed for a long time, plug the hole for its installation with a suitable plug.

Diesel models 2.0 l

1. If equipped, remove the crankcase guard.



2. The sensor is screwed into the rear of the cylinder block, above the drive shaft - disconnect the electrical wiring from it.

3. Unscrew the sensor - be prepared to collect any spilled fuel. If the sensor is removed for a long time, plug the hole for its installation with a suitable plug.

Installation

1. Lightly lubricate the threaded portion of the sensor with locking sealant.

2. Screw the sensor into its regular place and tighten it with the required force. Connect the electrical wiring.

3. On petrol models and diesel models 1.7L SOHC and 2.0L install the crankcase guard.

4. On 1.7L DOHC engines install the battery with the tray (see Checking the proper functioning of the preheating system).

5. Check the engine oil level and make adjustments if necessary (see Chapter Routine maintenance).
