Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve — Cleaning and Replacement (Opel Astra F)

We recommend cleaning the valve annually as follows.

Remove the air box from the top of the fuel unit as described in the appropriate subsection in Part B of this chapter (Section "Multec injection systems").

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the valve.

Remove the two bolts and remove the valve from the intake manifold. Remove the gasket.

Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and valve with a stiff brush.

If the old valve is to be reinstalled, remove any buildup from the valve seat with a brush or other sharp tool. Be careful not to damage the valve seat.

Install the valve with a new gasket, then install the vacuum hose and air box.
