Recommendation. The gearbox weighs more than 30 kg, so work with an assistant, or using an adjustable stop or lifting device.
Removing
1. We prepare the car for work and install it on the inspection ditch and overpass (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Disconnect the wiring harness pads from the reversing light switch (see «Reversing light switch») And (if installed) vehicle speed sensor.
3. Remove the gearshift drive (see «Gearshift mechanism drive - removal, repair and installation»).
4. We remove the retainer of the body of the bleeder valve of the hydraulic clutch release.
Warning! In order to avoid emptying the reservoir of the main brake cylinder, it is necessary to pinch the hydraulic clutch release hose.
5. Remove the body of the bleed valve of the hydraulic clutch release...
... and plug the tube of the clutch slave cylinder (transport plugs of the fuel filter fittings are excellent for this purpose).
6. Drain the oil from the gearbox and install the differential cover back (see «Gearbox - checking the level and changing the oil»).
7. Using a 15 mm key, unscrew the three bolts securing the gearbox to the engine oil pan.
8. Remove the front wheel drives (see «Front wheel drive - removal and installation»).
9. Remove the front suspension subframe (see «Front suspension subframe - removal and installation»).
10. We install adjustable stops under the engine and under the gearbox.
11. Using a 19 mm wrench, unscrew the two upper bolts securing the gearbox to the engine block.
12. With the same key, turn off the rear...
... and the front upper bolts securing the gearbox to the cylinder block.
13. With the same key, turn off the rear...
... and the front lower gearbox-to-cylinder block bolts.
14. Disconnect the intermediate bracket of the left support of the power unit from the gearbox bracket (see «Supports and rods of the power unit - replacement»),
15. We carry out further work with an assistant. Slightly lower the left edge of the power unit down. We take the gearbox as far as possible from the engine to the left side member and carefully lower the gearbox to the floor.
Warning! When removing the gearbox, do not rest its input shaft on the clutch diaphragm spring, this may damage the latter.
Installation
1. Apply grease to the splines of the input shaft of the box.
2. Install the gearbox in reverse order.
3. We pump the hydraulic clutch release (see «Clutch Release Hydraulic - Bleeding»).
