Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Turn on the neutral gear.
3. Disconnect the gearshift drive from the gearshift rod (see «Gearshift drive - removal, repair and installation»).
4. Using an 11 mm socket wrench, unscrew the four bolts securing the gear shift housing.
5. Pulling up, remove the gearshift mechanism and its sealing gasket (for clarity shown on the removed gearbox).
Recommendation. When assembling, replace the gasket with a new one.
6. We clamp the body of the switching mechanism into a vice through soft spacers.
7. We put a wooden block under the gearshift bushing so that the pin of the ball joint of the rod is perpendicular to the plane of the gearshift housing connector.
8. With a punch with a diameter of 4 mm, we knock out the pin and remove the gearshift rod.
9. Remove the ball joint.
10. Using tweezers, remove the pin.
11. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the stem seal.
12. We press in the stuffing box using a mandrel that is suitable for the diameter.
13. We insert the ball joint and the gearshift rod so that the flat surface of the rod is directed inside the housing.
14. Install the pin.
15. Remove the wooden block.
16. We install a new gasket for the gear shift housing.
17. Install the gearshift mechanism. At the same time, make sure that the gearshift lever...
... aligned with the grooves of the gearshift forks.
18. Install the rest of the parts in reverse order.
