Front Crankshaft Oil Seal — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The oil seal must be replaced if there is an oil leak at the junction of the rear timing belt cover and the cylinder block at the bottom of the engine.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the timing belt (see "Timing Belt - Checking Condition, Adjusting Tension and Replacing").

3. Unscrew the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.

4. Remove the gear.



5. Using a narrow slotted screwdriver, remove the old crankshaft oil seal.



6. After lubricating the working edge of the new seal with engine oil, carefully press it in, using a 30 mm socket head as a mandrel.



7. Install the remaining parts in reverse order.
