Replacing the air filter element
The air filter is located in the front right corner of the engine compartment.
1. Release the mounting brackets and lift the air filter cover just enough to remove the filter element.
2. Remove the filter element.
3. Thoroughly wipe the inside of the air cleaner housing and cover. Install the new filter element with the rubber seal on top.
Fuel filter replacement
Engine 1.7L
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel filter.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the temperature switch and heater, which are located between the installation plate and the fuel filter.
3. Unscrew couplings and disconnect fuel lines from the filter.
4. Unscrew the nuts and remove the filter from the bulkhead of the engine compartment. Separate the filter from the protective cover.
5. Unscrew the filter and remove the O-rings from the filter head.
6. Install new o-rings on top of new filter element.
7. Lubricate the O-rings with fuel and screw in the new filter, hand tightening only.
8. Fasten the bolt at the fuel filter and the protective cover on the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
9. Reconnect the fuel lines with new sealing washers. Connect the electrical connectors to the temperature switch and heating element.
10. Start the engine and check the fuel system for leaks.
Engine 2.0L
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel filter.
2. Unscrew the central bolt of fastening of a cover of the fuel filter.
3. Remove the fuel filter cap from the filter housing.
4. Remove the fuel filter element.
5. Check the condition of the sealing rings.
6. Install a new filter element and fill the filter housing with fresh fuel.
7. Install the fuel filter cover and screw on the central bolt (indicated by an arrow).
8. Start the engine and check the fuel system for leaks.
