1. Alternately set the drive mode selector lever to each of the positions and by which of the symbols on the indicator panel of the lever is highlighted, make sure that the transmission includes the appropriate modes. If adjustment is necessary, proceed as follows.
2. Place the lever in position P. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands.
3. Locate the operating lever on the left side of the transmission block and loosen the clamp bolt on the transmission end of the shift rod (see illustration). Move the transmission operating lever all the way back (P position), then tighten the stem clamp bolt with a tightening torque specified specifications.
4. Check up action of the lever of a choice of a mode of movement. If necessary, adjust the position of the driving mode panel backlight switch as described in Chapter 8, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
