Top dead center is the highest point reached by piston #1 during the compression stroke.
Piston N1 is located at the front of the engine on the side of the timing belt.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and, if necessary, remove the spark plugs.
2. Remove the outer timing belt cover.
3. Rotate the crankshaft so that the timing marks (1) camshaft sprockets were directed upwards and aligned with the slots in the timing belt cover, and the mark (2) on the crankshaft pulley is aligned with the pointer. When the marks are aligned, piston #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke.
