Clutch — removal (Opel Omega A)

1. Remove the gearbox as described in Section 6.

2. Mark the clutch housing relative to the flywheel (photo).



3. Loosen the bolts securing the clutch housing to the flywheel in a diagonal sequence. Loosen the bolts evenly, otherwise there is a risk of distorting the diaphragm spring. To avoid this, GM uses a special tool, shown in Figure 5.2. Press the diaphragm spring and pressure plate in this position with special clamps before loosening the bolts. Removing the clamps and then installing them to the new cover requires the use of a press. However, if the bolts are loosened evenly, no deformation should occur.

4. Lift the cover from the flywheel, remove the friction disc, noting the direction of its installation (photo).
