1. Flushing is not required if the coolant has been changed periodically or if plain water has been used. In any case, if the coolant appears rusty and dark, flushing is required. Execute it as follows.
2. Drain the system as described in previous Chapter.
3. Start by flushing the expansion tank, if available. The heater can be flushed by disconnecting the hoses on the bulkhead and then inserting the water hose.
4. Flush the radiator by inserting a water hose into the top of the radiator, run water until it comes out clean from the bottom outlet.
5. To flush the engine, remove the thermostat (Chapter 9) and insert a hose instead, flush until the water flowing from the bottom hose is clear. Also unscrew the drain plug of the cylinder block located on the front left side of the engine.
