Coolant level control
2. On a cold engine, check that the coolant level is approximately near the mark «cold» On models with a separate expansion tank, the label is on the outside of the tank, but on other models, it is necessary to remove the sealed radiator cap. In the latter case, some models have a cold level plate, or the level must be 50.0 mm below the top of the filler neck.
3. Refill the level as needed. If possible, check the density of the antifreeze before adding additional coolant (photo).
4. If regular refueling is required, check for leaks in the system.
5. Do not add cold water to the engine until it is cool, as this may cause cracks in the cylinder head or block.
6. Finally install the pressure cap.
Checking for leaks in the cooling system
7. Inspect all coolant hoses.
8. Check for signs of leaks from the radiator, water pump, expansion tank (where available) and thermostat.
Checking the fan/alternator drive belt
9. Check up a condition of a driving belt on all length.
10. Check drive belt tension as described in Chapter 13.
Coolant replacement
11. Drain and flush the cooling system as described in Chapters 3 and 4.
12. Fill the system with new antifreeze mixture as described in chapter 5.
