2. Drain the fuel from the filter by unscrewing the vent and drain plugs. Tighten the vent plugs.
3. Unscrew the filter using a chain or repair key (see illustration). Remove the old filter and make sure that no O-rings remain on the fastener.

4. Place the new O-ring into the center hole of the filter and secure it with the retainer (see illustration).

5. Lubricate the outer O-ring with clean fuel. Install the filter onto the retainer and tighten it by hand. Tighten the drain plug.
6. Start the engine and check the filter for leaks.
