Checking systems for leaks — every 10,000 km (Opel Omega A)

1. Open the hood and inspect component joints, gaskets, and seals for signs of coolant or oil leaks. Pay attention to the areas around the oil filler cap, cylinder head, oil filter, and oil pan. If a leak is found, replace the gasket or seal.

2. Check the condition of all hoses and pipes under the hood. Replace a hose if it is cracked, swollen or worn. Pay special attention to the clamps that secure the hoses to the cooling system components. The clamps can pinch or puncture the hoses, causing leaks in the cooling system.

3. Pay special attention to the heater hoses. Protect them with a casing if necessary (see illustrations).





4. If any damage or contamination is found, do not operate the vehicle until the necessary repairs have been completed.
