Oil pressure check
Start and warm up the engine. Unscrew the oil pressure warning light sensor and connect the manometer hose fitting to the hole.
Measure the oil pressure in the lubrication system at idle (see values in subsection «Design and specifications»).
Removal and installation of the oil pump
Drain the oil from the engine crankcase, crush the oil crankcase with the gasket.
Remove the alternator drive belt and crankshaft pulley.
Remove the front toothed belt guard.
Remove the toothed belt, after loosening its tension by turning the water pump.
Remove the crankshaft sprocket, washer and key.
Remove the shield from the cylinder block.
Loosen the oil pump and oil filter mounting bolts. Unscrew the rear bolts securing the oil receiver to the cylinder block.
Remove the oil pump complete with oil filter.
The oil pump is installed in the reverse order of removal. Install toothed belt and adjust its tension as above.
Checking the technical condition of the oil pump
Remove the oil pump cover. Measure the gap between the gear teeth, which should be in the range of 0.10-0.20 mm.
Check the gap between the ends of the gears and the plane of the pump housing, which must be within the limits specified in subsection «Design and specifications».
Warning. The driven gear of the pump has a mark applied with a core, which, when installing the gear, should be in the position shown in the photo.
Oil filter
The full-flow type oil filter is screwed by hand until it stops in the gasket, then it is tightened a half turn. The filter is replaced every 10,000 km.
To facilitate unscrewing the filter, wrap a strip of sandpaper 60-70 mm wide around the filter with the emery side towards the filter, or use a special tool.
