Removal the water pump

Drain the coolant.

The alternator drive belt is shining.

Remove the front timing belt cover.

Turn the engine crankshaft to the TDC position of the end of the compression stroke of the 1st cylinder. In this case, the mark on the crankshaft pulley should be opposite the installation protrusion on the cylinder block, and the mark on the toothed pulley of the camshaft should be aligned, depending on the engine model, with the mark on the rear upper cover of the toothed belt or with the mark on the camshaft bearing housing.

Loosen the three water pump mounting bolts, loosen the timing belt tension and remove it.

Remove the lower timing belt cover, then remove the water pump.

Installing a water pump

Install the water pump with a new sealing gasket on the cylinder block, install the lower rear timing belt cover.

Tighten the water pump mounting bolts.

Install the timing belt and adjust its tension as described above.

Tighten the water pump housing mounting bolts.

Install the alternator drive belt and adjust its tension as described in the section "Electrical equipment".

Install the front timing belt cover.

Fill the cooling system with liquid.

Replacing the thermostat

Disconnect the supply hose from the thermostat housing.

Remove the front timing belt cover and unscrew the thermostat housing.

Remove the thermostat from the box.

Install the new thermostat with a new gasket in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to its correct position.

Replacing the coolant

Disconnect the radiator inlet and outlet hoses and drain the coolant into a clean container.

Connect the hoses to the radiator and fill the coolant through the expansion tank to a level 1 cm above the "KALT" (cold) mark on the expansion tank.

Remove air from the cooling system by unscrewing the coolant temperature sensor from the intake manifold. As soon as liquid without air bubbles starts to flow out from under the sensor, screw the sensor back in. Check the liquid level in the expansion tank and bring it up to normal.
