Attention.
- Pneumatic shock absorbers contain high pressure gas. Do not remove the retaining ring from inside the top of the tube. If the circlip is removed, the shock absorber content «will shoot» outside, which could cause serious injury.
- To prevent injury, wear safety goggles when drilling through the shock absorber. Do not punch the shock absorber with a core.
1. Mark with a core (4) at a distance of 10 mm from the bottom of the cylinder (3).
2. Clamp the shock absorber in a vice in a horizontal position and completely remove the rod (1) shock absorber.
3. Drill a hole in the shock absorber according to the mark (4), using a 5 mm drill. Gas or gas-oil mixture will start to come out of the shock absorber. Use a rag to collect escaping oil.
4. Mark with a core (2) in the center of the tube (3).
5. Using a 5 mm drill, drill a second hole along the mark (2). Gas or gas-oil mixture will start to come out of the shock absorber. Use a rag to collect escaping oil.
6. Remove the post from the vise.
7. Fix the shock absorber over the liquid collection pan in a vertical position with the drilled hole down.
8. Moving rod (1) back and forth in the body (3), completely drain the oil from the shock absorber.
