Airbag system "Opel Full Size" consists of several separate systems.
Front airbag system
The front airbag system is activated in severe frontal collisions and forms a safety shock absorber for the driver and front passenger. The forward movement of those sitting in front is sharply slowed, thereby significantly reducing the risk of injury to the upper body and head.
Side airbag system
The side airbag system is activated in side collisions and forms a safety shock absorber for the driver or front passenger in the area of the corresponding front door. In this way, in the event of a side collision, the risk of injury to the upper and pelvic parts of the body is significantly reduced.
Inflatable curtain airbags

The inflatable curtain airbags are deployed in side collisions and form a safety shock absorber in the head area on the corresponding side of the vehicle. In this way, the risk of head injury in a side collision is significantly reduced.
Front airbag
The presence of the front airbag system is indicated by the inscription "AIRBAG" on the steering wheel and above the front glove compartment.
The front airbag system includes:
- an air cushion with a gas generator, located both in the steering wheel and in the instrument panel;
- control electronics with collision sensors;
- airbag warning light on instrument panel;
- seat occupancy recognition system;
- child safety system alarm with transponders in the instrument panel.
The front airbag system is activated in the following cases:
- in case of an accident of a certain severity;
- depending on the type of collision;
- in the area of action shown in the figure;
- regardless of the side airbag system and curtain airbags.
Front passenger seat with seat occupancy recognition system
The seat occupancy recognition system deactivates the front and side airbags of the front passenger when the seat is unoccupied or is equipped with an Opel child restraint system with transponders.
