Oil and oil filter change
1. As engine oil ages, it becomes thinner and more contaminated, leading to premature engine wear.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it on stands.
3. Unscrew the oil filler cap (see photo).

4. Loosen the drain plug in the pan by about 1/2 turn. Place a container under the plug and completely unscrew the plug. Drain the oil.
5. Wipe the plug clean, replace the seal, screw in and tighten the plug to the specified torque.

6. Place a container under the oil filter (see photo), which is located at the front of the cylinder block (on 2.0L engines the filter is screwed into the oil pump housing on the rear right side of the cylinder block).

7. Loosen the filter with a special key, then unscrew it by hand. On 1.8 L engines, unscrew the housing cover and remove it together with the filter element, remove the sealing ring (see photo).

8. Drain the oil from the filter.
9. On 1.8L engines, if necessary, unscrew the bolt, remove the filter housing and replace the seal (see photo).

10. Lightly lubricate the gasket of the new filter with fresh engine oil and screw the filter on. After the gasket has made contact with the cylinder block surface, tighten the filter by hand. On 1.8L engines, insert the new filter element (see photo) and tighten the cap.

11. Lower the vehicle. Fill with half the required amount of oil. Wait about 2 minutes for the oil to drain into the pan. Continue pouring oil in small portions until the level reaches the lower mark on the dipstick. Bring the level to the upper mark on the dipstick by adding about 1.0 liter of oil.
12. Start the engine and watch for leaks around the oil filter and drain plug for two minutes. Keep in mind that the oil pressure warning light will go out a few seconds after the engine starts, i.e. after the time it takes to fill the oil filter and oil passages. Until the light goes out, the engine should only idle.
13. Stop the engine, check the oil level again after two minutes, top up if necessary.
